It’s easier than you would think to setup ASUS router, and you can avoid hours of problems by learning how to reset it. This brief instruction will help you connect and get back online without any problems, regardless of whether you’re a new user or simply upgrading an outdated router.
Configuring Your ASUS Router
- Unpack and Connect: Plug your ASUS router in first. Use an Ethernet wire to connect your modem to the WAN port. Next, use a different Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi to connect your computer to the router (look for the SSID on a sticker at the bottom of the router).
- Go to the Admin Panel: Launch a web browser and enter either 192.168.1.1 or http://router.asus.com. This opens the admin interface for the router.
- Initial Setup Wizard: The Quick Internet Setup wizard is often launched by the router. To configure your Wi-Fi network name and password, adhere to the instructions. Don’t forget to create an admin username and password.
- Internet Configuration: Select the kind of internet connection you want to use. If in doubt, choose “Automatic IP.” For the majority of users, this works.
- Restart: Restart after saving your settings. You should be online in a minute when your router reboots.
If you wish to start over, have trouble connecting, or have forgotten your login information:
- Soft Reset: Go to Administration > Restore/Save/Upload Setting after logging into the admin panel. Press the Restore to Factory Default button.
- Hard reset: Find the reset button to do a hard reset. Using a paperclip, press and hold it for 10 seconds until the power light blinks, which resets everything.
